Jidoka

Jidoka is a Lean Manufacturing methodology for providing machines and operators with the ability to detect when an abnormal condition has occurred and immediately stop work. Developed by Toyota it requires operators to apply the principle of, (1) Detect the abnormality, (2) Stop, (3) Fix or correct the immediate condition and (4) to investigate the root cause and install a preventative measures.

Just In Time (JIT)

A strategy that coordinates scheduling, inventory and production to move away from the batch mode of production in order to improve and reduce inventories. Delivering what is needed, when it is needed, in the amount that is needed are the key principles of this methodology.
